English Heritage agreed to open the Inner Circle of Stonehenge from late evening until Solstice Dawn (11.30pm.-7.30am.) allowing Free and Open access for All. In 2000 there was no so called Exclusion Zone in and around Stonehenge. A parking area was provided at a distance from the stones and all visitors (including the press and Druids!) had to approach on foot. (Transport was provided for the disabled)
An agreement between English Heritage and various interested parties had been made that there should be no camping, dogs, amplified music or fires and that stewarding is to be provided by volunteers. There appears to have been a general agreement that these rules should be observed.
