Huge Mayday 2001 success in West Wales

As expected a small Mayday celebration in the small West Wales  town of Lampeter proved a huge success.  People arrived early to decorate the small town square with banners and streamers and strew the fountain pool with Gorse and May flowers in the traditional fashion. Amazingly we had gorgeous sunshine for the whole day which of course helped the general mood.

A new banner had been made and was erected in front of the Hong Kong and Shanghai bank.

A lamppost was converted to a Maypole

Dozens of anarchist and environmental leaflets were distributed, money was raised for green groups and many new friends were made.

The latest policy of living fluffy and saving your spikes until it is wise to use them worked well, the hairdresser next door letting us plug in an extension lead to play sounds and power an electric guitar and organ.

The local police force were friendly and helpful and many people are already looking forward to next years event.
