Bog Oak Fruit Bowl with carved yew inlays

This bowl was shaped from a section of bog oak trunk ploughed up by a farmer in West Wales. The yew inserts, from a tree felled in the hurricane, were steam bent to shape and then inserted in carved recesses. Finally the detail was carved into the yew using the finest gouges. The design is developed from traditional Celtic and Classical forms.
The piece was commissioned as a wedding present for Pierce and Cassie Brosnan.
