Celtic Necklace by Nansi Hemming (300mm.diam.)
This uniquely delicate necklace was designed with twisted links so that it will lie flat on the skin. It was carved from one piece of boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) a particularly dense and fine grained medium which takes a long time and sharp tools to work. This necklace was made specifically for an exhibition and took several weeks to carve. The design is a development of traditional Celtic knot work and the piece is in the collection of the artist.
