This small
Welsh lovespoon (150mm.) was carved in Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroids) The
bright yellow flowers of this interestingly grained wood are often seen in
the hedgerows of West Wales. The trees are said to have originated as
fencing stakes. The design is a development of a traditional Celtic
pattern and a heart motif is carved in the bowl.
This spoon was carved as a commission and a similar spoon could be carved for £60. |
